No Bazza there is one more free one then if Epic makes anymore than you have to pay, Raam was the worst because it took ages just to get that DLC and most people couldnt wait and wasting spending money on it instead of waiting a little bit longer to get it free

when the dlc is released you have to be very careful from where you download it from. the first one cost me 800 pts when it should have been free, all because i downloaded from the marketplace instead of waiting for the prompt.
then a few days later they gave away the new maps for free! so people who bought the dlc only bought an upgrade to horde (command post and rockets on silverback) and some new cheevos. so was that worth 800 msp! (you decide).
then they had the next one which if you had the pass you couldnt download it as microsoft hadnt sorted out the free download so if you wanted to play it early or tue same time as evryone else you would have to pay for it again 1200 msp.
its only on the third dlc have they got it right. but i think that this one was the last that the seasons pass got you for free.

i think the biggest kick in the teeth from epic was putting the seasons pass on discount over xmas. nothing better than a seasons greetings for all the loyal gears players that have supported them
Er sorry what has that got to do with activision and mw3 elite?

ooo someones tired, don't be so tetchy, he is just making a point about big companies, big games and problems with dlc, fairly relevant in this post.

also im not really sure what you are moaning about, people pay for elite. i dont agree with it but why shouldn't they get dlc before everybody else, i would want to see something extra for signing up for elite. you can't charge customers more just so they can look at stats on some portal, there has got to be something else to entice them. everybody complains but i would like to see what you would do if you were in charge of activision, and dont say i would do what is right for the consumer, put in the position you would always make the decision to maximise profit, whether it was right or wrong.
    Feisty one you are!

I think both Epic and Activision have got it wrong with the way they cater/don't cater for gamers. Although I don't have the season pass I agree that Epic did balls that one up somewhat. If people pay for Elite or the GOW3 season pass they should expect something in return, such as early(ish) and clearly signposted downloads. I agree with Stupendous that companies understandably want to maximise profits (a bit like films, I don't think that the profit margins for games are particularly high - blockbuster films make about 4-5% profit on their outlay, and that's if they're lucky) but I do think that the wait for non-Elite players is a bit excessive. Perhaps companies should look to providing other benefits for people who pay extra for season passes etc, rather than risk alienating gamers. What those other benefits might be I'm not sure but perhaps additional xp for so many hours/days of playing or extra weapons, such as the BF3 Back to Karkland dlc provided

I think Bazza was giving an example of what is similar as MW3 Elite but i think Elite is more costly because you have to pay for the subscription which is alot and then pay for all the DLC that comes out too, i think it is 12 DLC in a space of a year i believe

At the end of the day this is how the companies are trying to combat the pre-owned market and the 'lost money' from those sales!

I can understand the reason why they have done it - from a financial point of view but the whole 'delay' between Elite member and Non Elite member is rather a long time and does give members a very large edge over those that don't.

Clearly they pay the extra for these perks but if Activison want to expand their customer base maybe next time not so long?

If someone plays MW3 for the first time and they get absolutely hammered by a Elite member it could put them off playing it ever again or on the otherside of the coin (and Activison hopes) that they could be spurred on to improve themselves try to beat those better than them (wishful thinking!)

The same can be said for EPIC.

All well & good having the Season Pass (allowing discounted DLC, add ons, Maps etc) but then within the same month to give away certain elements of that DLC for free is a kick in the teeth for those that have paid the extra money!

At the end of the day the companies are doing what they can to stop the pre-owned market - the shops will come up with something else and the companies will have to devise another method to screw the customer even further!

Companies are thinking of their bank balances first and then maybe the customer/fan somewhere further down the line?

activision have probably done this to test the waters too. if they suddenly get an upsurge in elite member subscriptions then they are bound to do it again. I guess they are trying to make it what it says on the tin 'elite'. they have the most popular fps mp game franchise and they are cashing in on it as much as possible. like all ip's this will run its course and a new one will have to be developed.

if you look at the sp elements of the game it has been critisised as being almost identical to the last game (MW2) with lots more rollercoater point and shoot moments to make it seem like a blockbuster. I for one have only played about the first couple of levels and have got bored of it. yes im playing in veteran, hoping to make only two playthroughs to mop up remaining cheevos.

It would seem that most of the creative talent of this game was lost with a sequel to MW3 bring rather shabby indeed. if i remember righty black ops outsold MW3. so all hope now goes to Black-ops 2 to pull COD out of the ashes and re-ingnite its creative flair.

If halo 4 turns out to be the game everyone is hoping it will be. Maybe the final nail in the COD coffin will be struck

with regard to the seasons pass for gears inspite of all the cock-ups i have really enjoyed playing them and would welcome a pre-release to the dlc. with no weapons dependant on unlocks and perks and only being cheevo and map based dlc it would make more sense and make the season pass feel like you actually have something special instead of like having a discount store card.

Yes game developers/distributors want to make as much money as possible, mp servers take alot of maintainance. but somewhere along the way they have forgotten customer service/satisfaction and regard us as sheep blindly handing over our hard earned money. hopefully in this current climate of financial uncertainty some companies will come to realise this and hold onto that fanbase that are fickle for the next big thing.
Or is that just it. because alot of us want the new big thing the game companies try to get as much as possible out of us in the shortest amount of time knowing that the shelf life of a game they have worked on for years will be done and dusted by gamer the world over in 6 months to a year if that.
leaving only a finite loyal following to keep the candle lit in the early hours of gaming bliss.

ask yourself this "how good was BFBC2?" as a community we played it endlessly.
now answer this "have you played it since BF3?" now im guessing hardly any. i know i havent! and i loved that game.

    we reap what we sow.
