No New xbox next/loop/720 this year

Microsoft has responded to recent reports officially announcing that it will not release the heavily rumoured Xbox 720 later this year.

Batting off comments that the Xbox 360 manufacturer was to rush out production of its next console to compete with the upcoming Nintendo Wii U, Microsoft?s French Marketing Director Cedrick Delmas has openly declared that the PlayStation rival will launch ?nothing new in 2012.?

    Xbox 720 E3 2012 Rumours

Following in the footsteps of Sony and confirming that there will be no next-generation console release during 2012 Microsoft?s Delmas has, however, not ruled out the Xbox 360 follow-on being officially unveiled during June?s E3 convention ahead of release in 2013.

?What will happen at E3, it's still too early to say. What's certain is that there will be nothing new in 2012,? Delmas announced in a recent interview. ?If we wanted to counter Nintendo, we would have to be in a position to release something immediately, and that is not at all the case.

"We're not here to counter Nintendo and they're not here to fight the other manufacturers. Nintendo has put itself in a different cycle, it's going forward to its own rhythm, with success as we have seen with the Wii, and now it's their turn to present their innovation."

Insisting that the now aging Xbox 360 still has what it takes to lead the console wars for another lucrative Christmas period Delmas added: "We're in an industry that talks a lot, that likes telling stories. I am not convinced that things will happen this year. The Xbox 360's cycle is not over at all. The proof is that we haven't price cut this year.?

MS wont release a new console whilst the current one is making them so much money. It's in the benjamin cycle now lots in little out. They'll announce something at E3 a tech demo or something.

Since they haven't long released the new 360 and with how much they are pushing the next lot of kinect integrated games, I think it's highly unlikely we'll be getting the 720 till about summer next year at the earliest.
To be honest, I'm not to fussed about the 720, I never buy a new console on release. Simply because if you wait a few months the number of games and the price of the console will be much better.

I always buy at launch. We need a new xbox. imo. 360 just isn't capable of games running on an Radeon 6670 card. the next xbox is said to be 6 to 8 times more powerful in the graphics department.

Graphics make no difference a great game is a great game regardless. Developers no the platform inside out why make them start all over again. If Graphics were an issue we wouldn't be getting Mass Effect 3, Halo 4 not to mention Gears 3 which looks amazing. The longer the 360 is being developed for the better off we are, the developers are and Microsoft are. Compare the 360 Launch titles to what we have had in the last year!

Ok Rare's Kameo, Viva Pinata 1 and not to mention Perfect Dark Zero all look better than Golden Eye Reloaded, GTA 4 and 5, Dragon age's and some more and them rare games are 6 years old. In some cases Graphics make all the difference.. Fine detail can help you see intricate puzzles in games more clearly and id rather play Halo V (5) than Halo 4 anyday.

Graphics may help with puzzle games, etc. But then again with HD and the level the graphics currently are how intricate do you want your puzzles to be? maybe to see a tiny switch that's 1 mp big?? Sometime's puzzles become to complex or niggly to be enjoyable. I have a sd 28 inch box tv and to be honest I'm perfectly happy with the state of the grahics and level of detail in the games. Just remember yes the 360 is 6 years old but it was only 20 years ago people thought games like Sonic were the balls, put that into perspective to how long technology has been evolving and 6 years is minuscule. Be happy with what we have and be thankful there are still games coming out that look decent, do you want all devs to stop production of 360 games to focus on a console which has yet to officially announced? Look at the ds, they slogged that to death, then before the 3ds even came out the number of games trickled and the one's that are now being released are utter shite. For now all you know about the 720 is rumour, the world is rumoured to end this year does that mean it really will? doubtful. /rantover

how can you say youd rather play halo 4 than 5 when neither are released yet? as far as halo is concerned, SP wise i preferred reach tbh, MP wise halo 3 has better maps and is probably more balanced, and firefight i feel was better in ODST than reach (again, probably better maps more than anything else). since SP is relatively short compared to MP and firefight i suppose in my opinion reach doesnt actually rank that high compared to the older and not as "pretty" halo 3 and ODST.

i dont really think graphics make a vital difference. they make a difference yes but i think it will always be outmatched by other factors. two identical games and one with better graphics id obviously pick the one with better graphics, but 2 FPS for example, one has better graphics but not as good maps, or not as good gameplay, id have the one with worse graphics every time. you yourself have stated in another thread that your not a BF3 fan and you like MW3, and thats totally cool, but BF3 is a big advance in graphics, a completely new engine, and is amazing to look at, whereas MW3 isnt all that different looking than COD4, a 4 or 5 year old game. im not trying to say BF3 is better because of this, people enjoy what they enjoy and thats fine with me (and if someone is not fine with that then they are fucking stupid). its evident that graphics isnt everything

graphics is style and not substance and i will always prefer substance

I Dont see why there should be a new console maybe updates of the xbox 360 like we have seen the xbox 360 250gb and the newer xbox mw3 edition with more memory cant remember what that is on the top of my head. keep xbox360 i dont see why there needs to be anything new at the momment but knowing the technology world we will all have to upgrade at some point so lets wait and see.

I think the only real limitation is the Optical Storage. More games are coming on 2 disks than ever before yes blu ray can store all that content but fuck its slow. New Graphics are great but the new Xbox really needs to take a massive leap forward to be worth while. 6 times the grapical power is a very misleading term does that mean it will have 6 X the shaders, Pipelines, Memory and GPU Clock or 6 X the overall performance. Does that include the CPU and how are you going to get that performance out of a Hard disk let alone a Blu Ray powered console. You'll also need some pretty high speed Ram which is pricey as fuck at the minute. It was just some clown making a name for him self yes the 360 was a giant step forward compared to the xbox but the xbox was just a low powered PC in a box. Making the huge increase was easy but the 360 is a powerful multi core machine how can MS increase performance 6 fold and keep it affordable? Using hybrid CPU\GPU Tech from AMD would help add the RAM and controllers onto a single chip would be a good start. PC on a chip could be a viable future for consoles.
