Moaners whinge at Xbox Live Downtime

As you may recall, xbox live was down for a day on Monday Sep29th for essential upgrades.
Cue predictable moans from people saying, “i hope they compensate us for this downtime”, etc etc.
By my rough reckoning xbox live costs users in the UK 11p per day.
So tell me this, what can you buy for 11p? How are MS supposed to compensate you?
Do you want MS to send you half a packet of crisps?
Or perhaps you feel that you should get a free game out of it or something.

u know what i think every christmas xbox live should allow us a free game for being a member of xbox live and more people will join

i dont think your far off there mintz.
im having to renew my gold membership (hehe gold member) as we speak and ?39.99 is a lot of money! ok i know you can get it cheaper but still!
i can understand if they dont want to give away a fully fledged 360 game but just a couple of hundred points so you can wet your whistle would be nice.

Personaly i am still not sure why live is ?40 its not like the infrastructure is fantastic and we pay for everything else. MS do have a policy of more that states compensating us when the platform is down.

I think 1000 microsoft points would help us a great deal coz u can buy a couple of cut price games on xbox live which they only do at christmas

11p multiplied by all of the gold users across the UK would add up to quite a sum of cash (see superman 3 for further details) and its not like microsoft is short of a few bob. The goodwill that would be generated by a small gesture from ms would go a long way, after all, don't you get the same service for free on the PS?
To sum up, it's not the amount involved it's the principal!

I think it would've been nice to get a few points for it or something, even if it was just 100. I know it's not a big deal, one day out of our online gaming lives, but when MS is already trying to squeeze every last penny out of gamers as it is, giving a little something back wouldn't go amiss.

Yeah i'd like some free stuff too.

1000 ms points = about ?8, how does 11p equate to that?

buy it off ebay ebayshop called darwinexperiment quite cheap,and emails the codes within the hour
