It’s less than a week now until this is released and this is probably one of the most anticipated games this year. This installment goes back to the original theme of the series and drops you into World War II in the Pacific and Eastern Europe and is based, in parts, on historical battles that took place.
The game itself uses an enhanced version of the Call Of Duty 4 engine, with the same controls so this will be easy to pick up. Playing the multi-player beta myself this past week I noticed that there is really no difference, other than the theme of course.
What has been added is a co-op mode, either with 2 people on a console or up to 4 players online. Once the single player campaign has been completed a new “zombie Nazi” co-op game is opened up!!
Since the beta was released the comments posted on various games sites and forums has been good and bad. Here are just a couple of them:
Jesus this is hard. Hardly any weapons have a decent sight. One bolt action rifle has to be reloaded after every shot!! I am loving the whole game, I was concerned how this would compare with Call of Duty 4, but I have to say it has not dissapointed. My main concern was that being used to the accuracy of modern weapons in CoD 4, this would seem and play a bit primative, but thankfully this is not the case!!!
Most comments seem to come, as you can see, from the fact that the weapons are not as, well, fancy as CoD 4. Do people realise this is set during WWII??
Anyway, in preparation of the release of this game I have gone back and replayed the single player campaigns in both Call of Duty 3 and Call of Duty 4. Even setup a new Gamertag to gain the achievements (more on this soon!!).
The multi-player beta “expires” on monday, so it’ll give me a few days to prepare for what will take up the rest of my games playing year: Call of Duty: World at War!!
