We're day's away from the release of Metro 2033.
Little was known about the title until recently, Many thought it could be a RPG style game, others suggested a open world title, and others said possibly a Deus Ex system,
Well, you'll all be pleased to know that everyone was wrong,
Metro 2033 will follow a linear storyline, Similar to the presentation of titles like Half-Life 2, just not as good.
Early reviews are giving Metro 2033 a respectable 8/10 average,
however the less-than-perfect gun-play, over-powered enemies, and feeling of going all out when the game secretly wants you to play a slower, more tactical stealth game.
In short, with Metro 2033, you an expect a 10-12 hour campaign, with little replay value, Graphically it's up with the best, however shallow characters, and the more authentic Russian voice acting can leave you feeling somewhat separated from the whole storyline.
Although, that doesn't make a bad game, in fact,
it's a pretty good game that you're likely to enjoy, because the few niggles are easily overlooked.
However, one big problem, is. Multiplayer...
Usually I'd moan hat they could have included Co-op, or maybe a Horde/Survivor style protect your ass's mode.
With Metro 2033, there's only 1 complaint about Multiplayer, and that's simply "There isn't ANY"
a big missed opportunity, and with a linear single player, there's little reason to own Metro 2033 past it's 10-15 hour mark.
And while many, many games have enough to stand tall without delving into multiplayer modes, they usually need alot more than fancy graphics.
For that Reason, I can only recommend a Rental, after all, your unlikely to have much to do after a week, and you'll come off feeling much better after only forking out £7 to blockbuster.
Final word : Metro 2033, Fear the Future, Especially if there's no Multiplayer.
