Thread: Crysis 2 - Trailers & Impressions

Yeah I know, another game featuring suited up and emotionless "Space Marines"... That was my first impression too but as more details have emerged (including the tech demo posted below) I have become more interested in what the second chapter in this series has in store.

For those of you who never played the first game, whether it be due to the insane system requirements for your PC of simple lack of interest I'll catch you up on the story...

In the first game you are a U.S. Special Forces bloke in a super "Nano Suit" with can make it's wearer SUPER strong/fast/invisible/armoured.

You get sent to a jungle island to investigate an Alien crash site. Fights with the local North Korean soldiers on your way to a showdown with E.T.

This second instalment kicks off after the Aliens have attacked the Earth on a more global scale and decimated New York. It's your job to fight said baddies and also the agents of the shadowy company who make the Nano Suit.

It's looking good and I'm hopeful this will surpass it's predecessor in every way.

There is also an extensive level editor whereby you can create custom maps on the PC and play them of the 360 which I'm certain will be a brilliant feature.

I played the first on PC as my current rig makes bread and butter out of it ;) Its a great game and i just love how I can just load it up and beat on some people at the start (although it's not sandbox). Definetly going to get this one on 360 or PC.

I just finished playing it on PC i didn't like it first time round but this time it makes a little sense the suit is quite good too much pissing around though even with a keyboard. Feels like a poor halo combat wise and you know the visuals wont make it onto console.

I'll wait for reviews or rent it will probably be yet another 7/10 console shooter

It looks not bad, it looks similar to gears 2 but on a larger scale, i would prefer to see some jungles, in the city looks a bit boring

Nothing like gears mate no cover system no 3rd person just a poor halo imitation with a different suit and iffy aiming. Play Far cry and thats basically the same game!

I meant the graphics look Gears 2 not the cover system, i liked the look of the first crysis, but lot of people said that wasnt very good either

Crysis was ok its more of a technical demo tbh showed off Direct x 10 maybe they will flesh it all out and tbh the jungle looked great but you spent the whole time either lost or walking accross a fucking huge island waiting for your cloak too recharge. Yeah the island looked great huge draw distances and anti aliased too hell but the game was still a slog from one scrap too the next. The suit abilities of Cloak, Power, Speed and Armour made little difference i only ever used cloak mind punching someone off a cliff with power on was cool. For the first 50 times.

Fingers crossed though putting it into a more linear confined setting might make it great
