Being a goal keeper is a thankless task, you can pull off incredible saves keeping your team in the fight time after time but all you’ll be remembered for is your mistakes. A strikers job is an easy one, as long as they put the ball away every so often all’s rosy and their misfires are lost to the mists of time, however your momentary error of judgement will forever be remembered.

There is a huge array of visual assists that can be toggled on and off in the mode, from a circle that shows you the best position to stand, a white line showing the ball's trajectory and a red line indicating the ball's intended path.

You can then move with the left stick and dive in any direction with the right. As a goalie, you can also dive at player's feet with X and punch the ball away with Y.

You can also bark orders to your out-field colleagues about when to pass and when to shoot, the usual thing. I guess this was implemented simply to alleviate the incredible boredom of standing around for 95% of a match.

FIFA 11 is due for release, 1st October.

I think i may have found a role i could do in Fifa i'd probably really enjoy goal keeping.
