Man the Joker Has Seen Better Days...

After the events on the island of Arkham the Joker's fortunes appear to have taken a turn for the worse, hell at least he's still got Harley.

I'm just playing through Arkham Asylum so should be primed and ready to go once this comes out! Can't wait!

Given what happens to the Joker at the end of AA Im not surprised hes looking in a little bad shape!

Gotham is looking to be a tip top game.. the trailers for it look cracking & even the story got rumor milled as forthcoming for the film (& it sounded like a cracking story arc)

Apparently its not truely open world either so thats a good thing as it would break the stealthyness that made AA so good.

It'd odd how Harley's design seem to be changing in the two games from the original Animated series she was in.. The rest of the characters seem to have remained but she just can't get it figured out.. (still, she was just there so Joker could make jokes whilst planning... every comedy based villian needs a sidekick.)

It's well worth getting.. At the original release there was little hype around the game.. Rocksteady's previous games had been, well.... shit... and AA just caught everyone offguard... Its not a straightforward action game, but much more stealth based.. Mixed with a decent level progression to push you forward on a linear path (yet doesnt feel like it truly is).. and mixed with a good depth of background knowledge around the characters (through the psychological interview tapes & the Riddler's hidden riddles)
Which to date, makes the number of good batman based games = 1

Theres also a piece of sublime creativity at one point in the game (no, Im not saying where or when).

On good news, Arkham city isnt going to have multiplayer.. they wanted to concentrate on 'The Single Player Experience' - which means it might end up like Dead Space... huge critical acclaim, shit sales as everyone goes for Rental/2nd hand... - guess we'll have to see on that..

Properly gutted I didn't like AA. I can tell it's quality but I just never got into it. The stealth sections bored me too death, they felt like the worst bits from Splinter cell. Atmosphere wise, AA is unmatched Rocksteady nailed it, the voice acting was inspired and its one pretty game. Maybe I'll get on better with the 2nd

AA is probably still my favourite game for current gen systems. It felt just like a batman game should. Dark and violent! It's nice to see a developer stick to single player as well. I hate all these novelty multiplayer games. If there is one thing I'd like to see in arkham city it would be a few more references to the dc universe in general. I loved have oracle in AA but it would be nice for someone to at least mention nightwing and Robin (although I don't want them to be playable or anything). Yep! I'm a proper comic nut! Also writing this on the toilet!!

I dunno.. superflous mentions to other DC stuff might just seem a stretch too far.. (does it really need Aquaman being mentioned?) Though a mention of Robin/nightwing dying which explains why Batman is on his own would be handy..
Technically, Robin/Nightwing could have existed during the 1st game.. Batman was dropping the Joker off into Arkham when the trap was sprung.. and the events take place in the course of 1 evening.. Robin/Nightwing might have just been staying at home and anally fisting themselves with Alfred. - No need to unsubtly lampshade them into a story that didnt need them (But I guess could have been mentioned as a throwaway line by the Joker at the intro of the story)

From Rocksteady's perspective, they probably dont want to introduce Robin as they know he splits the fan base... better just to pretend that he doesnt exist! (or is dead & Batman is currently without sidekicks)

If they go with the Robin was alive but just not at Arkham that evening, then its going ot be more difficult why hes not in Gotham City.. Personally, I just think at the point in the game Robin doesnt exist.

Cant beat internetting whilst on the bog.. everyone should have a laptop or similar in bathrooms.

Batman AA was one of the best games I have ever played, my only problem with it was the Boss Battles (and I didn't get the party pooper achievement) just were not up to the standard of the rest of the game and hope it will be improved for AC
