Thread: Gears of War 3 Beta Details

Microsoft have finally announced the dates and details for the Public Gears of War 3 Beta.

Starting on April 18th 9am EST for those with the Epic Edition of Bullet stom and April 25th for those with a pre order code. The Beta runs till May the 15th across four maps and three modes, which will roll out at different stages of the beta.
TDM will be playable from the start on all four launch maps. The Capture the Leader and King of the Hill modes will be available later in the beta and ALL matches will be run on dedicated servers hopefully keeping it more stable than previous outings!!

Also Beta testers will unlock items, outfits and badges for completing certain tasks that are all exclusive to the beta testers!

Unlocks confirmed so far include

Flaming Hammerburst
Complete one match by Sunday, April 24 to permanently unlock.

Flaming Lancer
Complete one match during the week of April 25 to permanently unlock.

Flaming Sawed-Off Shotgun
Complete one match during the week of May 2 to permanently unlock.

Flaming Gnasher Shotgun
Complete one match during the week of May 9 to permanently unlock.

Beta Tester Medal
Complete one match in the Beta to permanently unlock.

Thrashball Cole
Complete 50 matches in any game type to unlock for the Beta period. To permanently unlock, complete 10 matches as Thrashball Cole during the Beta period.

Gold-Plated Retro Lancer
Complete 90 matches in any game type to unlock for the Beta period. To permanently unlock, score 100 kills with the Gold-Plated Retro Lancer during the Beta period.

I think your right Bazza just hope its more stable and less buggy

Ill be around for the 2nd phase of beta rollout anyway... We'll have to wait till the 1st phase gets released to see what we can do about boosting etc. (though from the sound of it, most of the unlockables are just play a game for each week the beta runs..

& the Complete 90 for match unlocks can probably done just by playing for a couple of hours anyway (5 minutes per game map, 2 minute loading time = 10 & 1/2 hours)

the 100 kills with the Lancer might need some boosting (and visiblity of the score within the game/epic website)


As for the Lag & Stability, well thats sorta part of what a beta test should be (though the phrase beta test doesnt mean what it used to these days)

I should be in from the start, seriously can't wait to get back to chain-sawing people in half... Urm... Yeah...
