Possibly Cerberus turn on Shepard I he followed a certain ending to the second game. Gathering allies sounds an awful lot like what Bioware did with the first Dragon Age. In that you went to recruit different groups to aid in the final battle which you could call in during.

Each of those had a tie-in quest that expanded from the original quest description. So it could prove quite interesting. I'd like to see what they can do with the cover system unless they've made it removable/desttructable.

    Looking forward to it.

Man, I hope Grunt returns as well so I can have an All Star Krogan Battle Team. How could I not go with a Space Dinosaur carrying a shotgun bigger than God's wang? Plus, it'll be awkward playing through and explaining to everyones favourite Space Racist (Spacist?) Ashley that I totally cheated on her with Yvonne Strahovski. In Space.

    Holy crap that sounds good!
Shepards on trial? did Cerberus stitch him up?
Earth lost the battle already? says a lot about humanity lol
So in the trailer Shepard is looking over earth from a prison cell?
So many questions.....at least you don't need to recruit team mates just use the allies from the first 2 games and introduce a few along the way.
Am I the only one scouring the internet for even a small bit of new info?
    Can't wait

I think I read somewhere he's on trial due to the events of the Arrival DLC. Joe might be able to fill you in, he's played it. I downloaded it but I'm afraid it'll kill my save files!

i thought joe's files were fucked because he changed hard drive, not because of the DLC (he only noticed when he got the DLC because it was the first time he played ME2 since the change)? anyway sam you can do back ups of your saves on a USB stick and keep them.

Backups? Pffft! Did Evil Knievel back up? I don't think so! He was brave, fearless, lived live on the edge! God, I envy him. Ahh, here's my USB drive. Now I just need to find out how to do backups...

Mass effect game of the year 2011? dont think so.

especially now its been delayed to "early 2012" sorry for all you shepherd fans, but you're going to have to wait till 2012 for "the most anticipated game of 2011".

no reason given as far as i can tell, just this:

The development team is laser focused on making sure Mass Effect 3 is the biggest, boldest and best game in the series, ensuring that it exceeds everyone’s expectations
which is just a whole sentence full of non-information that hurts my head.

    although laser-focused sounds exciting.

Mass Effect 3 Gamescom Trailer Puts Shepard in the Firing Line, on EARTH!

Showing that Mass Effect 3 picks up pretty much where Mass Effect 2 left off, with balls-out action and immediate shooter-style combat, this first in a series of combat reveal trailers entitled 'Squad Leader' demonstrates the cover mechanics and tactics you'll need to emply to bring down the big guns and the heavily armoured enemies.

It looks as though it 'll be no picnic fighting the huge manned mechs that can drop from the air into the middle of the battlefield, but with Garrus and Liara at his side, Shepard is able to give it his best, throwing all manner of biotics and other devastating weaponry at it to bring it down.

And clearly there's no substitute for a big old grenade. The war for Earth begins when Mass Effect 3 launches on March 6th, 2012 in North America and March 9th, 2012 in Europe. Check out the Gamecom 2011 trailer right here.
