How often do games match your expectations these days? The past year has been one dissapointment after another Brink, Homefront all promosing games that seemingly buckled under the weight of expectation. Step forward Deus Ex the prequel to one of the best PC games ever. Talk about pressure to succeed, one false move and PC fan boys would be up in arms baying for the developers blood. Eidos Montreal have taken the blue print and the concepts that made Deus Ex such a success and brought them bang up to date.
My obvious concern was a sort of dilution of the core ideas, forcing you to play a certain way, taking that freedom of choice away from the player, thankfully it appears that freedom of choice has remained intact.
For those unfamiliar with the series you play as Adam Jensen head of security at Sarif Industries, a corporation that sells human augmentations (robotic arms, x-ray eyes, and the like). They're on the verge of an incredible breakthrough, when the lab is attacked by mercenaries who kill the company?s leading scientists and leave Adam for dead. Left with no choice, Sarif?s CEO authorizes the use of extensive augmentations to save Adam's life, bringing him back to find out who was responsible for the attacks.
I've only just started playing so i wont go into specifics but lads you have to play this game. Its shaping up to be a modern classic worthy of the name. Several sites have already granted it 100 and 10/10 and its current Meta Critic score of 89 should be enough to warrant a purchase
