Mass Effect 3 Version to purchase? (Kinect Functionality)

    I have a bit of a conundrum...

played the first Mass Effect on 360

played the second Mass Effect on PS3 (collective boo - although I'm strictly impartial)

I do appreciate I'm on a 360 forum, but am wondering which platform to buy ME3 for now I have gone down that dark path...

So... do I carry over my game saves from ME2 (as i scored a 100 percent platinum trophy for it and the DLC) and stay with the PS3 version or...

buy the 360 version and look into the Kinect functionality as an additional selling point?? [I don't presently own the Kinect accessory]

Would love to know everyone's thoughts on this. Do you see the ability to speak Shepard's sentences and have the console select those conversation choices as a more efficient and immersive experience? or do you view the implementation of Kinect in this title as a gimmick to bring in a wider audience?

    discuss!

p.s I apologize for owning a PS3 pls dont flame me!

also... def getting N7 collectors edition whichever platform i buy for!

i dont know very much about the franchise at all, ive never played them, but from what you've said id go for PS3.

the ability to carry over saves has got to be the most important, certainly more important than kinect.

personally, speaking shepards sentences would make me feel like a berk, added to that my accent would probably fuck it up and say the wrong thing a lot, which could have big ramifications in the story. i guess im just sceptical about voice control vs pressing a button. theres too much room for error, and it would really ruin immersion when i have to be careful about what i say rather than just pressing the right buttons

Keep your history and get it on PS3 but be warned the Co op side is shaping up to be fantastic. The Kinect functionality may turn out to be pretty cool but i'd base the decision on history Vs Co op play. Do you have many buddies on the PS3?

Got bout 11 friends on PS3 but im the only one who knew how bloody good the series was from playing it on 360 in the first place - so if the co-op side works out & is well implemented that would most certainly effect my choice (prob far more than kinect could). Your both right though having leveled Shepard up from ME2 & saved the Normandy (& crew) should really be the deciding factor on this.

I lost my history from ME1 and ME2 still brings a tear to my eye now lol

    Does the history really matter?

I did it for ME2 & quite frankly, other than the 2 main choices (who lived & who died), couldnt give a shit about hearing the options of my choices as a played out on a radio or overheard conversation.
I daresay that ME3 will have other similar non-consequential decisions made (eg, who lived & died at the end of ME2 & the main choice you made), but all that other crap will again just be forgotten crap on a radio.

Kinect will likely end up like the HaloCE support - ie, rubbish & turned off.

Unless it has a hidden dialogue option which only works with Kinect, where you shout "Go Fuck Yourself" and then Shepard starts mouthing off, I'm not interested. I played R6V2's first level with voice commands ("Frag and Clear" "Go quiet" "What do you think of Pre-Raephalite sculptors from a social point of view?") but after a while, I felt a bit silly.
The whole 'immersion' thing is one of the most frequently trotted out arguments for Kinect/3D/Smellovision and I think it's a crock - I've never been so immersed that I have never forgotten I am playing a game, watching a film, which it was 'true immersion' would presumably entail.

Was just imagining me vocalizing some of Shepard's more annoying techno babble - that thought alone has actually put me off! unless of course they try & work in some Arnie one liners "schtick around' [said vocal choice triggers Shepard throwing low tech knife impaling rogue geth in the chest cavity...= instant gratification]

re: game save from ME2 purportedly any characters you have saved from the original will be available as squad members in ME3 - although I imagine there will be a series of 'brief encounters' with some of the more obscure characters - otherwise the whole game would become bogged down in silly sub plots...

Well if this years PS3 version of the third game in the series is anything like that of the second game. I'd get the PS3 version what with getting all of the DLC on the disc. Not sure if they did that due to the delayed release date for the PS3 version. If they're being released at the same time it's whether you want the co-op side that much and whether your 11 PS3 friends will all be getting Mass Effect 3. I know I'm getting it for the 360 and a few others are here too. So you're likely to find a good party for the co-op stuff here.

As for the kinect stuff I doubt it's going to make much of a difference to the overall gameplay. So I wouldn't let it's presence on the 360 sway you in any way.
